Freedom Academy is a Recognized as Equivalent Private School (REPS) in Maine. We handle all required filings with the state so your family can focus on learning.
How to Enroll What is a REPS?Maine law provides two ways to homeschool. Option 1, a Letter of Intent, requires annual filings directly with your local school district. Option 2 means enrolling with a REPS like Freedom Academy. Under Option 2, we are your school of record—your family files nothing with the state, and in the eyes of local districts, your child is enrolled in a private school.
Important: If you enroll with Freedom Academy, do not file a Letter of Intent. We handle all required notifications. If you are transitioning from Option 1, contact us and we will help you navigate the switch.
File annually with your local superintendent. You manage all reporting requirements directly with the district.
Enroll once with us. We file all required paperwork. Your family has complete control over curriculum and instruction at home.
Freedom Academy does not dictate your course of study or your teaching method. We handle the administrative side—enrollment paperwork, annual reporting, and communication with local school districts. We also maintain transcripts and can issue diplomas for high school graduates.
If your local school district has questions, they contact us—not your family. We are your front line.
The Freedom Academy Family Portal lets students submit progress logs, parents review and approve entries, and families access their documents and records online. Current families can log in at any time.
